The best Engineering University of Pakistan for 2012 by HEC

PIEAS or PIEAS University is located in Nilore, which is around 25KMs from Islamabad. It is part of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and is run in the public sector. HEC ranks PIEAS as the best and top ranked Engineering University of Pakistan. This ranking off course does not tell whether its good in all fields of engineering or a particular one. However based on the research output and number of Phd faculty members it is rated as the best engineering university of Pakistan currently.

PIEAS offers degrees in the following disciplines

Electrical engineering

Mechanical Engineering

Chemical Engineering

Metallurgical Engineering

Nuclear Engineering

Computer Sciences

Management Sciences

Medical (for doctors only for training in radiation therapy)

Physics and Mathematics.

There are a total of 90 faculty members at PIEAS and around 50% of them are PhDs (one of the reasons why it is ranked so high by HEC)

There are hostel facilities available for all the students, and all students are expected to stay in hostel.

PIEAS has good indoor and outdoor sports facilities as well.

Please bear in mind that originally PIEAS was offering Nuclear Engineering degrees only. The other engineering disciplines have been started recently.

    i wana know about the criteria of entry test….

      Dear Usama
      The entry test at PIEAS has four sections-
      English
      Maths
      Physics
      Chemistry.
      It will be from F.Sc / A levels. A total of 100 questions with 3 marks for a correct answer and -1 for a incorrect answer so guess work will hurt in this test. The duration is 3 hours.

          Usually 100 seats for each engineering discipline per year.

      I am assuming entry test of PIEAS. Well it has English, Physics, maths, and chemistry. Sample entry test is available on the PIEAS website.

      Dear Hamza
      It varies each year and made based on entry test and FSc marks. You should have around 75% in FSc and do well in the entry test. I cant tell you more on this.
